Mr Henschel's opera repertory includes, among others, Monteverdi (Orfeo, Ulisse), Mozart (Count, Don Giovanni), Rossini (Barber, Dandini), Wagner (Wolfram, Beckmesser), Strauss (Barber in Schweigsame Frau, Count and Oliver in Capriccio), as well as the opera of the 20th century, like Busoni's Doktor Faustus, Berg's Wozzeck, Henze's Der Prinz von Homburg, and Zimmermann's Die Soldaten.
He regularly appears at the opera houses in Berlin, Cologne, Brussels, Geneva, Zurich, Lyon and Paris, as well as at international festivals like Salzburg, Aix-en-Provence and the Maggio Musicale in Florence with conductors Harnoncourt, Gardiner, Eschenbach, Dohnanyi, Nagano, Thielemann and Mehta.
He is particularly focused on concert and Lied, and gives recitals throughout Europe and Japan, accompanied by Irwin Gage, Helmut Deutsch, Fritz Schwinghammer, and Shinya Okahara.
