Eric-Olof Söderström (b. 1957) graduated from the Sibelius Academy with diplomas in choral conducting (1985) and orchestral conducting (1988). He was chorus master for the Savonlinna Opera Festival from 1987-1991. After 1990 he conducted the Finnish Radio Chamber Choir for most of its concerts and recordings, and from 1992 to 1996 he acted as the choir's Artistic Director. In the 1995-96 season he was the visiting chorus master of the Finnish National Opera.
Söderström has conducted most of Finland's symphony orchestras, including the Tapiola Sinfonietta and Sinfonia Lahti, as well as the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra. He was Conductor of the Mikkeli Philharmonic Orchestra from 1991-1995.
