Winner of the 2000 European Grand Prix for Choral Singing, the Vesna Children's Choir was founded in 1965 by the artistic director Alexandr Ponomarev at the Vesna Children's Choir School in Moscow. It has performed under such major conductors as Evgeny Svetlanov, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Dmitri Kitayenko, and Mikhail Pletnev. The choir has toured Russia, Europe, Canada, and Japan and has appeared in TV and radio broadcasts, as well as on several commercial recordings.
